There have already been multiple releases, such as the romantic visual novel Collar x Malice and the otome game Caf Enchant. Both of these titles offer unique storylines and characters, as well as plenty of opportunity for the player to make decisions that will shape their relationships. The Nintendo Switch has already proven itself to be an incredibly versatile console, but now it’s branching out into something a little unexpected – dating sims. Dating sims are a type of visual novel game, where the player takes on the role of a protagonist, and they must navigate a storyline while making decisions that affect their relationships with other characters.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 (
A group of Ayakashi approach the protagonist after a series of near-fatal accidents and explain to her that the accidents were the work of evil Ayakashi who want her blood. Each of these men is willing to protect her, but only if she will bear his child. Nightshade isn’t just one of the first and best otome games on the Nintendo Switch, but one of the best otome games out there. The Nintendo Switch is ideal for dating sims, due to its portability. Now gamers can take their virtual romances with them wherever they go, allowing them to squeeze in some gaming time wherever they are. It also provides an opportunity for more mature gamers to find games that fit their interests, as dating sims often contain elements of mystery, horror, and even romance – genres that aren’t usually seen on consoles. What really pulled me in was being able to fight alongside my own Palico and Palamute, basically a cat and a dog with armor and weapons.
Kotone visits the Café in Tokyo, an elaborate three-story building that looks imposing. She investigates the rooms and finds one that is labeled Staff Only. Not really romance, but Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker has bonding scenes with all your party members, like Persona’s Social Links if you’re familiar with those, where you help em go through a character arc. 7th Dragon III has romantic scenes in it, but the game treats them very casually. You can chat up nearly every major NPC regardless of gender.
This game is certainly not for everyone, but the stories and characters in Later Daters are meant to challenge how the player views the elderly and it’s quite successful in that regard. Later Daters also features bright, colorful art, a wide range of body types and skin tones, and is LGBTQ+ friendly. Currently, only the first three episodes are available on the Switch, but there are four more available on PC that may make their way to the Switch in the future. Originally a single game, Fantasy Tavern Sextet was divided up into three games for the Switch, each featuring two of the six love interests. In this game, you play as a cook for a maid cafe who finds himself pulled into another world.
This ability comes in handy when she tries to assist the different guys in various situations. Norn9 has 4 protagonists that the player can choose to play as – Sorata Suzuhara, Koharu, Mikoto Kuga, and Nanami Shiranui. Games have enjoyed sustained popularity, especially amongst female gamers. Animal Crossing and Stardew are unequivocally wonderful games. This list makes me want to revisit Sakuna and Spiritfarer too which I never finished. Kitaria Fables is on my wishlist but I haven’t had time for it yet.
That said, it does offer local couch co-op, by letting a second player tag along as a more passive sidekick to the main protagonist’s dominant role. In general, Resident Evil is such a fun series to watch other people play, if only to see them in their most vulnerable moments of total terror and panic. Since Gooigi has his own special skills, this co-op adventure feels more equal than other two-player adventure games on this list.
